Interviewed by the magazine Variations in 2019, Jérémy Frérot had left the group Fréro Delavega which he formed with Florian Garcia two years ago. A courageous choice when we know that the duo had sold more than two million albums. Leaving this adventure was a difficult but necessary step according to Laure Manaudou’s ex. He confides: “Don’t believe it, it was really hard at the beginning… I took a break for one or two months, totally alone and depressed, telling myself that the story was really over. After a farewell tour and concerts with a crazy atmosphere, it was a bit complicated…“.
He continues: “However, this passage was essential to recharge my batteries and find myself. I also learned to think alone again. There were some really difficult moments, a real task of introspection, but in the end, all of this really opened up lots of perspectives for me! You know, with Flo, we had already talked about a possible separation, but I didn’t think it would happen so quickly… The thing is that he felt in total contradiction with what he was doing and what he was doing. ‘he thought… He had to make this decision to be in agreement with himself again“.
Jérémy Frérot’s tribute to Florian
The first single, called Goodbyewas also a tribute to his former singing partner. “You dedicate the first single Goodbye to Flo. Why was this important to you?“the journalists asked him.”Because the first version was about him, indeed… However, it was rewritten for the album, because the story was digested. It had to be universalized so that it spoke to everyone.“.
