February 1932. It was a crossing that was supposed to give the Georges Philippar the prestige that its splendor and its modernity as a luxury liner reserved for it. Unfortunately, following a fire that many continue to find suspicious, the building of the Messageries Maritimes de Marseille sank off the coast of Djibouti. Of the approximately 900 passengers, 40 lost their lives, including star journalist Albert Londres. In his novel Le paquebot, released by Gallimard, the writer Pierre Assouline made what he calls a staging of history.
