On a trip to the town of Chajarí, Entre Ríos, the bus that was taking the Gilda suffered an accident that claimed her lifethat of some relatives, the musicians of his band and the driver, when they collided head-on with a truck in the kilometer 129 of Route 12.
It was raining and the road was slippery, so after hitting the shoulder, the truck managed to stabilize but in the opposite lane and was unable to avoid the bus, causing a high-speed impact that was fatal for many of those involved. Francisco Cagnin, the singer’s youngest son, was the only family member who survived.

Miriam Alejandra Bianchibetter known as Gilda, was born on October 11, 1961her parents Omar Eduardo Bianchi and Isabel Scioli called her Gil when she was a child, a nickname that ended up becoming her stage name. She grew up in a working-class family. During the first years of her life, she enjoyed being at her grandmother’s house.
Since she was little, she liked dressing up as an adult and learning to sing songs she heard on the radio. Her mother took her to study classical dance, and she danced and sang. Despite her talent, her parents did not like the musical environment that the singer aspired to, so they forbade her from this activity and she opted to become a kindergarten teacher.
At the age of 16, she lost her father. So, from a very young age, she took care of her family, helping her mother. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, but after a few years she decided to pursue her dream of being a musical artist in the tropical world. But before that, she started a family. In 1981, she married businessman Raúl Cagnin, with whom she had two children, Mariel and Fabricio.
His life changed for the first time, after his 30 years, When he read in the newspaper classifieds that a group was looking for a vocalist, he did not hesitate and joined the band. Despite his family’s objections, this time he went ahead. He met Ricky Maravilla’s keyboardist, Juan Carlos “Toti” Giménez, who became his manager, partner and something more.
As she performed, she moved away from her career as a kindergarten teacher, and her husband’s insistence on her continuing with music led to conflicts that led to their divorce in 1994. Her bandmates claim that despite being separated, she was never able to get over that relationship.
It was difficult for her to break the barriers of the tropical scene, because it was an area governed by men and there was resistance to female artists, but she succeeded and became very popular. When she surpassed 1,500 spectators at a show, her career became explosive. In less than a year she was already an absolute success.
With her hits “No me arrepiento de este amor”, “Fuiste”, “Noches vacías” and “Corazones valientes”, among others, she achieved gold, platinum and double platinum records. Shortly before the accident, Gilda wrote her last song “No es mi despedida”, which curiously seems like a premonition of what would eventually happen.
