TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Tommy Mohamad revealed his experience of qualifying for Hajj in 2019 through the haji furoda.
The 41-year-old doctor admitted that at first he was just trying to register at the Retali hajj agency and finally got a visa in Kuala Lumpur. The visa he got was not a physical visa card, but an electronic visa.
“In 2019, before the pandemic, I took the Furoda pilgrimage. At first, I wanted to try it, but it worked. I only got the visa on the D day of departure because I had to go through Kuala Lumpur. So I just got the visa in Kuala Lumpur,” he said to TempoTuesday 5 July 2022.
Hajj furoda or Hajj mujamalah is a non-quota pilgrimage route that allows pilgrims to depart without waiting in line. Although there is no need to queue, the risk of the congregation failing to leave is very large. Because, there is no clarity on the number of quotas for each country, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tommy previously received information about the Retali agency from his aunt’s friend, who actually worked at the agency organizing the pilgrimage. He admitted that he was worried that he would not get a quota and had given up if he had to choose the regular route list. He was also aware of the uncertainty of the furoda hajj quota, so he never recommended this method to his family or friends.
At that time, said Tommy, the agent never gave certainty about the date of departure. The agent only explained that the departure date could change. Finally, in 2019 Tommy left for Hajj in September. The registration and payment has been made since March 2019.
“I was told that the date would be like this, but he said there would still be changes. But he said there was already one fix dateIt was about 7 days before the hajj, “said Tommy.
Tommy said that a year before his departure, Retali’s agents had failed to send congregants by route haji furoda. This made him worried. But in 2019 the agency managed to dispatch the congregation because it took the furoda hajj quota from another, bigger agency.
