JAKARTARussia is still in the world’s spotlight because it has not stopped invading Ukraine. The war between the two countries has been going on for a year and has not shown any signs of peace.

Apart from the invasion of Ukraine, which started on February 24, 2022, there are other events in the annals of Russia. This country has experienced a massive revolution on February 23, 1917. But in the general calendar, the revolution began on March 8, 1917.

The difference occurred because Russia was still using the Julian calendar system. The revolution broke out suddenly in February 1917.

In Rex A. Wade’s book entitled “The Russian Revolution” in 1917, which was published by Cambridge University Press, no one predicted this revolution, including the government.

Since the end of 1916, various strata of Russian society have actually been discussing the possibility of a revolution. This is because the country is currently experiencing a widespread crisis.

No one thought that this revolution was the first stage of the revolution in Russia throughout 1917. As a result, the Russian Empire, which at that time was led by Tsar Nicholas II from the Romanov dynasty, collapsed.

Broadly speaking, the revolution was triggered because many Russian people had lost their faith in the tsarist government. The public sees the many cases of corruption and the country’s economic conditions which tend not to increase.

Moreover, Tsar Nicholas II repeatedly dissolved the Russian Parliament (Duma) which was established after the Russian revolution broke out in 1905.

These factors were exacerbated by Russia’s participation in World War I, which then made Russia’s condition even more difficult.
