KOMPAS.com – Mayor Surabaya Tri Rismaharini said he had received an offer to become a minister in the government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

However, Risma refused the offer. He chose to continue his duties as Mayor of Surabaya.

Risma wants to keep her campaign promise to make Surabaya residents more prosperous. Risma also decided to finish her tenure in Surabaya.

“I want to convey, why do I still remain mayor. Because, my goal (wants) the citizens of Surabaya to be more prosperous,” said Risma when inaugurating a sports field in Tambak Asri, Krembangan, Surabaya, Sunday (16/8/2020).

Goodbye

Risma also said goodbye to the residents of Surabaya. This is because his tenure as mayor is less than one year away.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to say that not until one year I will finish being mayor. I am February (finished serving), I beg to say goodbye, ladies and gentlemen,” said Risma.

On that occasion, Risma advised the residents not to waste God’s time given in life.

He also did not want to waste the time given by God to devote himself to all residents of the City of Surabaya, until his term of office ends.

“So ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for learning from the Koran, until there is a letter Al ‘Asr, for the sake of time. Because at that time it was a gift from God that will not be repeated. So don’t waste time,” said Risma.

Plans for the last year

Risma actually already has a plan for the last one year of his leadership as mayor. He wanted to motivate his citizens not to give up under any circumstances.

However, the plan was hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Because conditions began to improve, Risma took to the field to realize the plan.

This can be seen during the inauguration of the Rusunawa and the inauguration of the Tambak Asri sports field. Risma continues to motivate residents, especially the children of Surabaya, to never give up.

“My goal is to build motivation, because there is no point in me building a good Surabaya, but the people don’t get anything,” said Risma.

Therefore, he continues to motivate his citizens to continue to struggle and move so as not to become spectators in his own city.

In fact, he asked the children of Surabaya to continue to fight and work hard in order to be successful and successful in the future.

“You all have the right to be successful and have the right to succeed. Now, don’t say anymore that I am just a pedicab driver’s son and so on, even though his son is a pedicab driver, you can still succeed, as long as you work hard. Nothing is impossible with God, as long as you want, “he said.
