Did you know that there are daughters who are not considered and kept secret in the real world? She is Princess Delphine, daughter of King Albert II of the Kingdom of Belgium.
King Albert II ascended the throne after the death of his older brother in 1993 at the age of 62. He held power until July 2013, then resigned due to poor health and was replaced by his son, Philippe.
Quoting from various sources, Princess Delphine learned that the king was her real father when she was 17. Before that, she saw the man born in 1934 only as a friend of her mother’s headmaster, Baroness Sybille de Selys Longchamps.
During the 17 years of her life, Princess Delphine was raised by Jacques Boël, mother. Jacques Boël himself is known as a very wise person in the Belgian business world. He was also known as the fourth generation of one of the richest families who made a lot of money in the steel industry.
On the other hand, King Albert II himself was legally married to Queen Donna Paola Ruffo in Calabria in 1959. Then Princess Delphine’s mother appeared and admitted that she and the king had been in a relationship for 18 years. Rumors of this story first appeared in a biography of Queen Donna Paola published in 1999.
This fact became the background for Princess Delphine to go to court to gain recognition and a legitimate royal title. Her struggle was not easy, she had to continue through various twists until she was finally able to conquer King Albert.
She has filed a lawsuit against King Albert since 2013, after her father abdicated and no longer has immunity from law. King Albert II was asked to take a DNA test, but he refused a court order and was fined € 5,000 a day.
“The first time I visited him (King Albert) and his lawyer, he was so mean and made me cry. I never thought I’d go to court. But I did it with certain principles,” he said in the VTM documentary. , quoted by Style.
The constant refusal did not make Princess Delphine give up. After years of lengthy trials, King Albert II eventually lost the trial and only recognized Delphine as his biological daughter in early 2020.
