The story of LHI experiencing sexual violence during a rapid test at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Page all

Chronology of harassment

According to LHI, the incident occurred on September 13 when he was about to fly from Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Nias, North Sumatra.

LHI then did rapid test at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, at the facilities rapid test which is owned by Kimia Farma.

The officer, said LHI, asked for an amount of money for the nonreactive statement he issued. The victim also felt blackmailed by the perpetrator.

“People call then chat asking for money,” he said.

Because they didn’t want to be complicated that morning, LHI transferred Rp. 1.4 million via their cellphone to the suspect’s personal account.

After that, unexpectedly, the man sexually harassed him by kissing the victim and feeling his chest. This made the victim shocked and traumatized.

“I cried. Shocked,” he said.

The airport was still quiet at that time. The time is still around 04.00 WIB. The victim is in shock, feels unable to fight back or screams for help.

After arriving in Nias, LHI reported what happened to him to the local police. However, the local police advised to report to the police where the incident took place.

“I’ve also called my friend who is the police,” he said.

Experience trauma

As a result of this incident, LHI became traumatized. She could not bear to see men she did not know for fear.

“Until now I am still traumatized,” said LHI.

In fact, when she saw many male taxi drivers, she immediately imagined the harassment she experienced.

“It’s normal when there are many taxis at the airport offer, and I immediately remembered the incident. I went straight back to the bathroom and cried. So much so that the taxi gentlemen offered me (taxi service). I actually wanted it, “he said.

Even so, in the midst of trauma, there were still many people closest to him who provided support so that he could immediately escape the trauma.

“The people closest to me, especially my girlfriend,” he said.

The police said they had not received the report

The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police have not received a report regarding the criminal act of sexual harassment and extortion at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Commissioner Alexander Yurikho said there had been no official reports until Friday (18/9/2020).

“No one has officially reported it to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police,” he said.

Alex asked the Twitter account owner who wrote thread sexual harassment and extortion at Soekarno-Hatta Airport made an official report.

Alex also explained that he would conduct a CCTV check to check whether the crime actually occurred.

LHI itself intends to make a report to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police regarding the incident so that there are no more victims of harassment at the airport.

He also hopes that women who are traveling alone will remain cautious and immediately look for a safe place if there are suspicious signs from people around them.
