Detention of senior activists Jumhur Hidayat who became a defendant in the hate speech case was suspended. Jumhur told how his life was at the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center (Rutan).
Initially, Jumhur said that he felt that his ‘only’ seven months imprisonment felt like a vacation. The reason is, about 30 years ago, Jumhur had felt imprisoned for three years while still a student at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
“I’m honest. I was sentenced to three years, 32 years ago. More than 30 years, when I studied at ITB, right? That’s 3 years. So when I left, I felt that. Yesterday (seven months), to be honest It’s just like a holiday. If you ask about my spirituality, I won’t be surprised. If it used to be a bit long, “said Jumhur Hidayat when met at Kopi Politik, Pakubuwono VI, Friday (7/5/2021) night.
At the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center, Jumhur admitted that he often met former leaders of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab. According to him, he often encouraged Rizieq, and vice versa.
“Yes we encourage each other. Same with other FPI friends in the rutan,” he said.
Then, Jumhur also touched on articles that were considered rubber in the ITE Law. Fri claims to want to fight to remove articles that the authorities often use when ensnaring critics of the regime.
“I think it should (the elimination of the rubber article of the ITE Law). Maybe with friends. Because now, especially when it’s the Twitter season. Twitter says a little wrong, you definitely say it’s incomplete. Of course Twitter can’t be complete. 140 characters you want to explain. something, using Twitter, must be incomplete, “said Jumhur.
“So whoever is in power can use that article. So that in the future it is not used, it must be subject to a judicial review, eliminating such articles,” he continued.
Jumhur himself is planned to undergo a verdict in July 2021. He said he would face the verdict as is.
“Yes, I just explain what it is. That I am critical, yes. That I see the Omnibuslaw Law, some things are good, some are certain. Yes for sure. some Jumhur.
Meanwhile, the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, issued a Circular on the handling of the ITE Law several months ago. It contains the settlement of cases of the ITE Law, one of which is restorative justice.
Jumhur considered the SE Kapolri to be good. It’s just that, continued Jumhur, SE was late because he had already entered the detention center.
“Actually it (SE Kapolri) is good. But late, I went to prison first hahahahahahaha. I’ve already entered, it just came out. Good but, so more selective. Who is reporting must be clear, who is given must be clear. We’ll just see there are improvements. I think the National Police is trying to fix some of the previous shortcomings, “he said with a laugh.
For political measures, Jumhur is still reluctant to open his voice. He said his political move was still a secret.
“Now it’s still a secret. Which party route is still secret, wait for the time,” concluded Friday.
Previously, the South Jakarta District Court Judge granted the request to postpone the detention of the defendant in hate speech cases Jumhur Hidayat. Jumhur has now been officially released from custody.
“Yes, that’s right, as of yesterday he left Bareskrim detention. The judge issued a suspension of detention,” said Jumhur’s lawyer, Oky Wiratama from LBH Jakarta, Friday (7/5).
He revealed that Jumhur was free yesterday Thursday (5/5) at 17.00 WIB. The prosecutor immediately carried out the execution of the judge’s decision.
