President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) outspokenly snapped at the President Director (Director) of PT Pertamina (Persero). Jokowi’s anger because the state-owned oil and gas company was slow to execute the PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) refinery project.
This was conveyed by Jokowi in front of Pertamina’s board of directors and commissioners. During Jokowi’s briefing, Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati was also present. The briefing was held on November 16, 2021, which was uploaded on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel today, Saturday (20/11/2021).
“The investment is US$ 3.8 billion, it’s also been years before we were there, then there was a problem, it hasn’t gone on yet,” said Jokowi regarding the flashback of the TPPI project, which at that time had not yet started.
Jokowi also admitted that as soon as he was sworn in as president in the first period, he immediately went to the TPPI, to be precise in 2014. At that time, Nicke was not yet the President Director of Pertamina. The former governor of DKI Jakarta saw the huge potential of the TPPI project.
Then the last time Jokowi went to TPPI, Jokowi told me that he had yelled at the President Director of Pertamina. This is because the reasons that Jokowi received regarding the cause of the project have not been clichéd.
“After I was inaugurated in 2014, I went straight to TPPI, because I knew this product could solve many things. All these imported substitutes were there, all of them, derivatives from a lot of petrochemicals, petrochemicals there, so when the President Director, Mrs. I went there the last time, Mrs. Director of the story, yes, I snapped because it was true, told It’s the same thing,” he said.
“Mom, no no no, I don’t want to tell that story again, I have heard from the previous president directors’ stories,” said Jokowi bluntly.
