The Tiriac Group of founder Ion Tiriac is an absolute success story.

Even during his active career as an athlete, Ion Tiriac was busy and traveled in a variety of directions. In addition to tennis, where he won the doubles title at the French Open in 1970 with the final triumph alongside Ilie Nastase against Arthur Ashe and reached the Davis Cup final three times with Romania, the now 84-year-old also played Football, table tennis and represented his country in ice hockey at the 1964 Olympic Games. Compared to his current assets, his career earnings as a professional read quite modestly at just under $250,000.

After his active career in tennis, he quickly made the leap into the business sector, where he became particularly known as Boris Becker’s manager. In addition to supporting players such as Ilie Nastase, Goran Ivanisevic and Marat Safin, he quickly expanded his field to include major tennis events and tournaments. In German-speaking countries, he organized the Davis Cup home games for the German Tennis Federation during the Becker boom and was also responsible, among other things, for the ATP tournament in Kitzbühel and the Masters event in Stuttgart, which he followed up with his license Madrid moved.

But Tiriac didn’t just limit itself to the sports sector, but was also active in a wide variety of business areas. He rose to the billionaire circle in 2007 through his work in the Tiriac Group, which is active in real estate, financial services, airlines, automobiles and energy, among others, and currently brings together more than 40 local companies.

Even the two highest-earning footballers in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal and the Argentinian Lionel Messi, cannot manage to overtake Tiriac even after combining their assets of 631 and 586 million US dollars respectively.

When Tiriac reaches this next level, it will definitely expand its luxury fleet with more than 400 luxury models. But anyone who knows the Romanian knows only too well that behind this supposed private pleasure there is also a tough financial investment.
