Gennady Khazanov Humorous monologues on behalf of a culinary college student made Gennady Khazanov famous throughout the country. The image was so “stuck” to the artist that it could ruin his life.
The authors of the monologues on behalf of the unlucky student were mainly Lion Izmailov and Arkady Khait. When one of Khazanov’s performances was shown on television in 1975, the audience roared with laughter. And then, as was customary at that time, they wrote letters everywhere. They asked and even demanded that the “student” appear in front of the public more often.
Many did not separate the fictional image and the real Gennady Viktorovich. Khazanov felt that a half-educated culinary specialist could well derail his career. And I dreamed of saying goodbye to this character.
“The danger that the viewer would not allow me to do this was great. The viewer does not forgive betrayal. And if he fell in love with you in some capacity, be so kind as to present yourself in that capacity,” the artist does not hide.
However, he did not want to become an “eternal student”. Until you have gray hair, go on stage in the same role. Gennady had completely different dreams and ambitions.
Khazanov still recalls with a shudder: “I always understood that the “student of the culinary college” who brought me fame would strangle me.” The artist entered into a fight with a fictional hero, who, however, began to seriously influence real life.
The program “Around Laughter,” which appeared on screens in the late 1970s, helped. Gennady performed in it with other solo and very incendiary numbers. The “student” gradually faded into the shadows.
However, it has not yet been completely forgotten. Gennady Viktorovich admits: “Even now, when I have already passed 70, people turn to me with memories of a “student of a culinary college.” It’s very difficult to get rid of.”
