Lombok –
Fabio Quartararo told about himself who had to struggle with gravel when driving on the track Mandalika Circuit. Especially to the neck.
Since the first day of the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP pre-season test in Lombok, Friday (11/2), riders have complained about the Mandalika Circuit track which they consider dirty due to the presence of dust and gravel on the track.
The riders admitted that it was difficult to improvise optimally on the track. That’s because they really have to stay from racing line.
Specifically regarding gravel, one of the riders who complained about it on Sunday (13/2) was Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia. He said his right arm was hit by gravel, showing bruises.
After three years, Fabio Quartararo also said the same thing when he was met by a crew of journalists at the Media Center after completing the last day of the Mandalika MotoGP pre-season test.
“The track has started to clear but there are still gravel. The gravel hit the neck,” he said.
Fabio Quartararo explained, the pebbles apparently hit the motorcycle rider’s tires and bounced so that they hit other riders behind him. Can be hit by the hand, but not infrequently hit the neck.
“Imagine if five fast riders are in front of you and then your neck is hit by the gravel,” he said.
“But the committee has said that the circuit will be cleaner when the race starts. We all hope that it is,” he continued.
Previously, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) had spoken about the dirty track at the Mandalika Circuit since the first day of the pre-season test, on Friday (11/2). MGPA admits that it will work hard to clean the track at the Mandalika Circuit so that the riders feel comfortable.
“We have high safety standards with the assistance of several parties involved, such as the FIM, IMI, and Dorna,” said the Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) who is also CEO of the Pertamina Grand Prix Mandalika MotoGP Race Committee, Priandhi Satria in a statement received by detikSport. .
