The story of an eerie March 30 – 2024-08-01 01:16:15

/ world today news/ “Bulgaria stands firmly and unwaveringly on the side of its allies and will remain faithful to the obligations it has undertaken towards them. It is about a manifestation of solidarity that must be placed at the basis of the relations between the countries in the new Europe”.

Loud applause silences these words of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria. The people’s representatives welcomed the news of the declaration of war with rapture.

Does your heart sink? What if it’s not fake news? Could it have just happened? Where are the kids anyway?

Calm down. The news is not fake, but it is not news. The year in which the above words were spoken was 1941, the Prime Minister was Bogdan Filov and war was declared not on Russia, but on the USA and England. If you are worried, it is not your fault, but the fault of today’s rulers, who have given rise to your suspicion that out of stupidity, sycophancy, greed and dogged loyalty, they can once again bring Bulgaria into a war for foreign interests.

The insane, arrogant, criminal policy of the Bulgarian government, which led to the declaration of war on December 13, 1941, gave Churchill a pretext for the bombing of Sofia. The Bulgarian capital “should be razed to the ground and potatoes should be sown in the ruins,” says the British Prime Minister.

And it begins. The heaviest bombing was on March 30, 1944. 450 bombers dropped 3,000 fragmentation and 30,000 incendiary bombs. Sofia is covered with a carpet bomb. A total of 4,208 civilians, women and children died from the Anglo-American air raids. Even more are the wounded and maimed. 12,657 buildings were destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of Sofia residents flee in panic to the countryside. The losses are such that Roosevelt proposes to stop the bombing. Since the medicine has done such a good job, let them continue to receive additional doses of it, Churchill retorts.

Our Air Force and Air Defense defend the capital with unparalleled heroism. They destroy 185 enemy aircraft. We lose 27, whereas in separate battles the ratio is 23 : 1, in their favor. They lost 256 killed and 333 captured. Our losses are 21 dead airmen. One of them is Lieutenant Spisarevski, who, after shooting down an enemy bomber, was hit during a second attack and burst into flames. Instead of jumping with a parachute, he rammed into another opponent and died the death of the brave. Lieutenant Stoyan Stoyanov wins 15 aerial battles….

If on March 30 we honor the memory of the victims of the Anglo-American bombings, we cannot help but think about the lesson from the sinister act of the then warlord, which led to a national catastrophe. In order to anoint and please their allies, the Bulgarian rulers sacrifice people and country. Is there a danger of this happening again?

Democracy must put a weapon in our hands to prevent any attempt at disastrous decisions by incompetent and corrupt rulers, which will lead to new cold and hot wars, to pain and suffering for people. Madness must be able to be stopped by those on whose heads it will be poured. Otherwise, democracy becomes pointless.
