Taaliah Hajra Camilo from the Philippines shares her story of converting to Islam on TikTok. When contacted by Mstar, Taaliah recounted his journey in getting to know Islam until he said the two sentences of the creed.

“When I was little, my mother and father brought me to Seventh Day Adventist (SDA). I ​​was young at that time but I realized that we were only one God. So as I grew older, I remained firm with that belief even though I lived in the majority are non-Muslims,” ​​Taaliah told Mstar.

“Once that night, I was pensive while looking at the stars and the moon, I realized that I was always attached to this world and lived according to what I believed. I asked myself, how can I manifest love but my heart doesn’t feel happy? After that, I got an answer that I missed the love of Allah,” he recalled.

Taaliah’s heart began to beat in Ramadan 2021. She tried to live a Muslim way of life such as fasting. “With Allah’s permission, on November 16, 2021, I will pronounce the two sentences of creed in front of Ustadz Aleem Muhammad Said M. Tuncaling at Mindanao State University, Marawi City in the Philippines,” he said.

Then after saying the two sentences of the creed his heart was also knocked to wear the hijab. “I feel more comfortable and respected when wearing the hijab. When I first said the two sentences of the creed I cried because there was a mixed feeling that I couldn’t express,” she explained.

When saying the two sentences of the creed, Taaliah was accompanied by his family members. They then gave Taaliah a hijab to wear at that time and she complied.

Taaliah feels grateful for getting support from her family. He said that his wish was not coerced by anyone.

“In the beginning, knowing Islam was not influenced by anyone. This trip was the only one I knew. Before converting to Islam, my mother and father realized that I had different beliefs but they were very respectful and never got angry or disagreed with my decisions,” said Haru Taaliah.

When he decided to convert to Islam, Taaliah began to adapt when he was at home. The family also understands what Taaliah has not been able to eat since converting to Islam. He also began to learn to fast.

“My fellow Muslims tell me that the month of fasting is sacred. I’m trying to learn to fast as a Muslim this year. But I don’t celebrate Hari Raya like other Muslims, I only pray Eid with friends. I was touched to convert to Islam. He was interested in what I was doing,” he said surprised.

Taaliah finds it difficult because she lives in a minority area. However, this case did not prevent him from continuing to embrace Islam.

“How do we wear clothes that look simple and cover the genitals as a symbol of Islam. In the Philippines, most people don’t know about Islam. They think if you convert, you are a ‘false Muslim’ group, where this belief is only manifest and belongs to the ethnic group. certain,” he said.

“I am not a perfect Muslim woman but I have never given up on continuing to study Islam. I live in an area where not everyone understands Islam and sees Islam as a terrorist,” he continued.

Taaliah still adheres to the religion of Islam and reveals the reason for uploading the story of her convert to Islam on her social media account.

“I use this social media platform to open the eyes of netizens that Islam is a calm and safe religion. Life in this world will be better if we respect and respect each other. And practice practice regardless of religion, nation, belief, social position and so on,” concluded Taaliah.
