“The Story Behind Apvedceļš: From Children’s Names to Fame with “Strawberries””

Initially, the group was called “Krūmiņš und eži”, but they quickly realized that the name would not work.

“Initially, children helped us with the name. And there were all kinds of pearls like “Rasbainieki”, “Bronze chickens” and others.”

In the end, they came to the right name themselves. The participants are said to have sat at the table and written their options on a piece of paper. Neither Armands nor Jānis remembers who came up with the name “Apvedceļš”, but everyone still agrees that the name is the right one.

The band’s most famous single “Strawberries” is still one of the most requested songs at any event and green balls. It was this song that took the group to the zenith of fame.
