– I will not be surprised if we cross the bar tonight. The mood is at its peak now.
Democrats profile Vidar Kleppe is buttery and confident in his case. It is he, and the Democrats, who will be this year’s big surprise in the parliamentary elections tonight.
– Forget MDG, Red and whoever it may be – we are the ones who will be this year’s big surprise, Kleppe says to Dagbladet.
– As with Trump
The former parliamentary representative was expelled from the FRP by Carl I. Hagen in 2001, after accusations that he was a populist. Since then, Kleppe and his controversial party Democrats, who refer to themselves as national conservatives, have lived a life on the fringes of Norwegian politics.
– And yet the Democrats go completely under the political radar for most people, Kleppe comments.
– This is probably a bit with us as it was with Donald Trump. Not everyone dares to say that they should vote for the Democrats when the pollsters call and ask. That is why I think the Democrats are underrepresented in the polls. So just wait until tonight, he says.
– How high do you think this goes?
– For me, it will not be a big surprise if we get over the threshold – but it will be a huge shock for the media and for the elites in Norway, says Kleppe.
–
Neither Erna nor Jonas
Kleppe reiterates its promise not to support Jonas Gahr Støre or Erna Solberg.
– We never support a globalist prime minister, he says.
– The Democrats are the only anti-globalist party. If we get a breakthrough, you will notice. Whether Erna or Jonas is prime minister, it only moves a few per mille. Most people do not notice anything. But the Democrats have a policy that stands out strongly.
–
Erter Sylvi
Kleppe points out that 40 percent of the readers of the controversial website Resett stated that they would vote for the Democrats in an informal poll.
– It’s pretty hefty, he says.
At the same time, Kleppe directs a quick left hook at his old party Frp, which made significant progress during the school election. Kleppe believes that Sylvi Listhaug should indirectly thank him for this.
– The Democrats were not allowed to participate in the school election properly. That was just why the FRP came forward, because we did not get the chance to compete with them. Had we participated in the school election, Frp would have struggled, Kleppe claims.
– If people vote for the Democrats, I think there are many who end up disappointed afterwards by having cast their vote. There is only one real party that enters the Storting and that wants to cut taxes, pursue a strict immigration policy and preserve Norwegian values and culture – and that is the Progress Party, Amundsen recently told Dagbladet.
