With the “Stop Covid” application, Latvia has become one of the first countries to test a cross-border interoperability solution for applications developed on behalf of the European Commission.
It is intended that this solution will allow applications developed in different countries to exchange information with each other, thus providing an opportunity to alert the public to contact with a Covid-19 patient, even if the patient is using an application created in another country.
Along with Latvia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Italy have also been involved in the development and testing of the European Commission’s cross-border application interoperability solution.
“We are currently actively involved in testing the new solution and the digital infrastructure needed to make it work. As people return to their normal routine, travel abroad and actively attend public events, expand the functionality of Stop Covid and integrate it into an international chain of interconnected applications. is the only logical and urgently needed step, and only in this way can we ensure that, when leaving, for example, Germany, the user of the application will receive a warning if he comes into contact with a German citizen who has contracted the disease or, conversely, while here. In Latvia, there has been contact with a foreigner who suffers from Covid-19, “explains Elīna Lidere, the communication manager of the application” Stop Covid “.
