The Stokes: Songs Against the War & More Music Boundless

Podcast 7/14/23 The Stokes: Songs Against the War & More Music Boundless

It’s time to sing the old tunes again, The Stokes think. In view of the more than thirty trouble spots and wars worldwide, one must counteract the spiral of hate and violence and the mistaken belief that this will make the world a better place. And be it “just” a song.
They do exist, the peace songs by Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan & Co. They’ve just kind of been forgotten, they’ve gone out of fashion. The German-Irish trio The Stokes is doing something about it, has just recorded an entire album of such anti-war classics and dubbed it “The White Album” with a wink. A nice collection in traditional Irish folk style, from “Where have all the flowers gone” to “Universal Soldier”.
This and more “Music without borders” for a more colorful and peaceful world is available at this audio bar from hr2-kultur. (14.7.23)
