The Blood Bank is currently facing a shortage of platelets. According to Dewanand Hossen, president of the Blood Donors’ Association, the most affected blood types are A+, A-, B-, O- and AB.
He adds that the Blood Bank will only be able to supply hospitals and clinics for one week only.
This drop in blood supplies is explained by the increase in cases of influenza and Covid-19.
