The sticky notes for Dark Alliance’s first major update are very vague • Eurogamer.net

Dark Alliance got its first major update today – and it’s Sticky notes very unclear.

The action role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons was released on June 22 and has received mixed feedback, so many eyes will be on this first patch to see if it fixes some of the game’s more pressing issues.

Unfortunately, developer Tuque Games’ patch notes for Dark Alliance v1.16 are so vague that players are struggling to figure out what the update actually does.

Here’s the full list:

  • Improved multiplayer latency.
  • Voice chat will still be enabled after returning to Kelvins Cairn.
  • Improved camera lock.
  • Improved user interface.
  • Increased teleportation attacks from enemies.
  • Fixed a case where progress would be blocked when the player reappeared when the boss died.
  • Balance changes and tethering improvements.

What UI improvements? How exactly is the teleportation attack of the enemy enhanced? And perhaps the most annoying line in the sticky notes: balance changes and improved tethering.

Which balance has changed? This line is key because Dark Alliance starts off with some pretty serious balance issues, especially when played alone. The sheer amount of health on enemies means it often takes longer to take them down alone rather than working together. Does this patch make grinding the Dark Alliance easier? Heavier?

Some have reported that the patch fixes the popular loot run exploit, but that is not mentioned in the notes. I’ve seen some praise for the tethering changes that seem to have made ranged enemies a bit more aggressive (they often stop waiting for you to attack them, or even stop while you attack him).

It looks like Dark Alliance still doesn’t offer cross-gen cross-play, which means PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players still can’t play together. Steam also still doesn’t offer crossplay with Windows 10 PCs and Xbox consoles. Tuque Games has stated that it is intended to enable cross-generational gaming.

Also, it looks like you can’t play with the patch in any character configuration in the group (currently you can only have a group structure consisting of Drizzt, Bruenor, Catti-Brie, and Wulfgar, which is annoying). Tuque Games has said this will be done soon after launch.

So! The Dark Alliance has seen some improvements. Which fix exactly? The players are trying to figure it out.
