“The Stayaway Covid application should have alerted me. And it didn’t,” criticizes Rio

Shortly after it was known that Rui Rio tested negative for covid-19, the PSD leader used social media to criticize the operation of the StayAway Covid application.

It is recalled that the president of the PSD was present at the Council of State, last Tuesday, in which the advisor António Lobo Xavier, who is infected with the new coronavirus, was also present.

“Once I was at the State Council meeting, the application ‘Stayaway Covid’ should have alerted me. And it didn’t,” wrote Rio on Twitter, thus criticizing the application promoted by the Government and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) .

The application allows you to anonymously track the contagion networks by covid-19, informing users that they were, in the last 14 days, in the same space as someone infected with the new coronavirus, after the infected person places a corresponding code in the app.

It should be noted that everyone who attended the meeting has already started to be tested. This Monday, the official source of the Presidency of the Republic revealed to the Lusa agency that the President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, and the Prime Minister, António Costa, were tested and the result it was negative.

The same source also said that the tests carried out on five other state councilors – the former presidents of the Republic Jorge Sampaio and Aníbal Cavaco Silva, Francisco Pinto Balsemão, Leonor Beleza and Francisco Louçã – were also negative.

Also the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, who was present, tested negative for covid-19, but will remain in isolation until Tuesday.
