The bust depicting Miklós Radnóti in Győr, in front of the Zrínyi hospital building, was toppled. on his Facebook page announced the Győr-Szol utility company.
The incident was reported to the police, and the perpetrator is being sought. The staff of Győr-Szol will take care of the restoration of the statue.
In connection with the case, the 24.hu he mentioned that this is not the first time that damage has been caused to the Miklós Radnóti memorial in Győr, because about 10 years ago, the statue standing on the border of the city was rammed by a car. The vandal at the time turned himself in. He was on his way home from a nightclub, but due to the fog and lack of local knowledge, he drove into the monument.
It is not by chance that the Radnóti statue stands in front of the Zrínyi hospital in Győr. This is where the labor service poet was directed in the II. at the end of World War II, when the Nazi collaborators fled with their prisoners, including Radnót, towards Germany in a forced march.
