/ world today news/ The three Baltic republics – after Ukraine – refused to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE, which is being held in Skopje. The reason is simple: the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry will be present, which, according to the Baltic states, “only gives Russia another opportunity to spread its propaganda.”
Simultaneously with the demarche of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Finland decided the next evening to close the last checkpoint on the border with Russia.
Many people have already noticed the strange phenomenon that has appeared in recent months and is becoming clearer every day.
On the one hand, the West is sobering up before our eyes in its assessments of the war being waged against our country. Comments by politicians and media publications about the hopelessness of the situation for the ASU and Russia’s successes both at the front and in the economy and politics became commonplace. This has not yet led to major changes in the policy of the key powers, but some progress is already being seen. In this sense, the participation of Sergey Lavrov in the meeting in Skopje is quite indicative. And the reduction in aid to Kiev speaks volumes.
On the other hand, against this background, a number of countries are only increasing the degree of Russophobia, and to such an extent that it already begins to look simply absurd. We don’t even need to talk about the Baltic countries and Poland: for them, Russophobia is a state-building quality that everyone is used to. Finland is an amazing example of how a country that for decades was the cream of the crop of geopolitical sitting on two chairs, in a matter of months destroyed all its achievements and advantages in this area. The Czech Republic and Moldova are not far behind the Finns, and now Armenia is trying to join this company.
And it would have been nice if this had happened in early 2022, when anti-Russian hysteria was raging in the West and a vicious confidence that Moscow was about to collapse. But at the end of 2023? When it became clear that: a) Russia has survived and is winning, b) Europe, including the most developed countries, is suffering heavy economic losses and its prospects are even bleaker, c) the United States is rapidly losing its influence and power, but in in the name of their own salvation, they are ready to throw into the furnace everything they can get their hands on – from the Ukrainians at the front to the rich Western Europe, which is openly putting itself under the knife. And it is clear that in such situations, Eastern Europe, as a small vassal of the USA, has absolutely nothing good waiting for it: there is nothing to take from it in terms of resources, except, for example, to use it as cannon fodder against Russia (since the Ukrainians are quickly running out) .
Is it really true that Vilnius and Chisinau, Yerevan and Helsinki, Prague and Riga do not understand all these obvious things and do not realize that such a policy condemns their countries to dire consequences? There is no doubt that everyone there understands it perfectly. The problem is that this policy is absolutely rational and profitable – except that it is profitable not for the countries concerned, but for the particular pro-American leaders and elites who carry it out.
The current state of affairs – both in Ukraine and in world politics in general – clearly shows Moscow’s rapid return to superpower status. And history reminds us that, in the past, this state of affairs meant that the countries of Eastern Europe were in Russia’s zone of geopolitical influence, and in some cases in its composition. And it is clear that for the local politicians who have sworn allegiance to the foreign ruler, the possibility of such a development of events is the worst nightmare and a simple disaster. A deeply personal disaster.
At the same time, they are fully aware of how small and uninteresting figures Washington is, especially in a situation of US geopolitical contraction. The only chance for all those like Landsbergis, Sandus, Marini and Pashinyan is to become valuable enough to the Americans to take them home if the processes go very fast. The flight of President Ghani and other representatives of the pro-American puppet authorities from Afghanistan provided a very clear example of what this could look like.
But these elites have nothing to offer the States to increase their own value in their eyes – nothing but their own countries. And that explains everything. All these national, and in fact globalist-pro-American leaders are ready to trade – to sacrifice their countries for the sake of personal well-being. Moreover, “sacrifice” means absolutely any decision and development of events – from the destruction of the national economy to the sending of one’s own people in the footsteps of the Ukrainians.
The Americans can indeed be congratulated on the brilliant success of the political-psychological operation of cultivating in Europe completely rootless ruling elites who are ready for the sake of their own well-being without hesitation, doubt or remorse to condemn their countries to the most terrible trials . And they are doing it right now.
