The State Will Not Lose to Thugs

Jakarta

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called Police chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to take firm action against thugs who often harass container drivers in North Jakarta. Sigit immediately gave directions to all levels of the Regional Police and the Resort Police to eradicate acts of thuggery that are troubling the community.

“All regional police and police in the ranks must take firm action against disturbing acts of thuggery. This is to ensure safety and provide a sense of calm to the community,” said Sigit in a written statement, Friday (11/6/2021).

Then Sigit admitted that he had given direct instructions to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto and the entire regional police chief. He asked that public elements who carried out acts of thuggery should not be given any space.

Furthermore Police chief Sigit also asked his staff to show off every thug’s arrest. It aims to create a deterrent effect for the thugs. Sigit emphasized that the police would arrest all the thugs.

“The state will not lose to acts of thuggery. Persons and thugs immediately clean up, arrest, and solve it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sigit appealed to the public to take advantage of hotline 110 when he found an act of thuggery. According to him, the service is available 24 hours for people who need assistance from the police.

“The public remains calm, there is no need to worry about acts of thuggery. The police now have the Dumas Presisi application and services hotline 110. We will provide maximum assistance to residents,” he said Police chief Sigit.
