the State promises a reinforcement of the cancer strategy • TNTV Tahiti Nui Television

The fight against cancer and new cases of cancer, a public health issue in Polynesia. Emmanuel Macron announced it, the State will provide its support to deploy a new oncology strategy around the CHPF. Cooperation with the Bordeaux University Hospital and Unicancer will be strengthened. Objective: to develop research, clinical trials but also to develop fenua treatments.

In Polynesia, 800 people are being followed in 2021 for cancer, figures increasing according to the honorary president of the league, Patricia Grand. In women, there are 120 new cases of breast cancer per year. For men, cancers of the lungs or prostate are the most important.

The creation of an oncology center to fight against various cancers is reassuring. The means announced by the President of the Republic aim to develop early diagnoses and create better access to therapeutic protocols, whether in hospital or at home.

“Some patients will no longer have to travel, at least I hope so, no longer to be far from their families. I also know that research can be undertaken here. Doctors like to be able to use, when there is no longer any possibility with the usual treatments, new techniques, new products. And unfortunately, we are too far to do so ”, explains Patricia Grand.

The cancer center will not be a single building. The idea is to deploy a specialty by specialty oncology strategy around the CHPF in order to best treat cancer cases, including those on the list of 23 radio-induced diseases.

Patricia Grand is looking forward to seeing you soon “To be able to treat cancer patients in the best possible way and in a more reasonable time. All cancer and radiation-induced patients deserve to be treated in the best possible way ”.

For both doctors and patients, the objective of strengthening the cancer strategy will be to further increase the chances of a cure.
