The state of health emergency extended again by 15 days

The Council of Ministers this Saturday, June 27, adopted Decree No. 2020-687 extending the duration of the state of health emergency throughout the territory of the Republic of Madagascar. As of this day, the state of health emergency is again declared for fifteen days.

The first decree was adopted on March 21, 2020. The state of health emergency was then extended six times, on April 4, 2020, on April 17, 2020, on May 2, 2020, on May 16, 2020, on May 30, 2020 and finally June 13, 2020.

Before the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Christian Ntsay had consulted the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly and the President of the High Institutional Court.

The state of health emergency is decreed for reasons of health security, public calamity and to allow the regular functioning of the public authorities. The provisions of the Emergency Act are thus once again applicable.

On the evening of June 27, 2020, the çap of the 2,000 cases of Covid 19 was passed in Madagascar. The number of confirmed cases of covid-19 is from 2005, including 1083 active cases, 907 cases of recovery and 16 deaths.

The consequences of the measures to be applied in the context of the fight against the coronavirus in Madagascar will be announced this Sunday, June 28 by Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, during a television intervention on the national channels of TVM and RNM .
