The departmental advisers (Loire-Atlantique on the left) of the canton of Rezé 1, Freddy Hervochon (also elected in Bouaye) and Myriam Bigeard, react to the announcement of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) at the beginning of the week concerning thelengthening of the runway at Nantes Atlantique airport.
“An artifice”
According to them, the DGAC makes “believe that this artifice would remove more inhabitants from noise pollution”.
But for these two advisers, ”it will be impossible to reconcile air development while protecting populations. By deciding to develop the activity of the airport, the State therefore chooses to sacrifice even more inhabitants of the canton of Rezé 1 (which includes the municipalities of Bouaye, Bouguenais, Brains, Rezé north, Saint-Aignan- de-Grand-Lieu, Saint-Léger-les-Vignes). “
“While several thousand of them are already suffering from the repeated passage of planes, they will not be less numerous when the traffic soars to 9 million or even 15 million passengers …”
For these elected officials, “this is a bad choice. “
“The priority must be the protection of populations. In the absence of transfer from the airport, the State and the DGAC must limit traffic in Nantes Atlantique and work on a new air economic model, which will allow the challenge of energy transition to be integrated. “
Four points to defend
The two county councilors of the canton say they continue to defend:
- The abandonment of the lengthening of the track of 400 meters towards Saint-Aignan de Grand Lieu.
- An environmental noise prevention plan capable of meeting the challenges of energy transition and limiting traffic in a new air business model in Nantes Atlantique.
- The extension of the right of abandonment for inhabitants who own houses suffering from noise pollution in St-Aignan, Bouguenais, Rezé as well as exceptional compensation from the State for the relocation of the college of Neustrie to Bouguenais.
- The extension of the ban on night flights until 7 a.m. (instead of 6 a.m.).
