“Petrkov requires demanding repairs. However, it will also be open in a limited form during the reconstruction, “says Lucie Tučková from the National Literature Memorial.
They want to welcome the first visitors to Petrkov at the end of June. The program will take place about once a week, other times the building will be inaccessible to the public. There are concerts, literary readings, theater performances and events for families with children focused on fine arts. Most of the events will take place due to the epidemiological situation and the technical condition of the buildings in the castle gardens and park, the entrance fee will be symbolic.
The extensive reconstruction of Petrkov Castle should begin as early as the end of May, with the government promising almost 150 million crowns. It should be completed in 2026, when the original residential parts of the building will be made available. For example, the kitchen stove, with which the poet was often photographed, and the press on which he and his son Daniel printed graphics were preserved.

The emerging Czech-French center is behind the cultural program in Petrkov. Reynk’s wife was Suzanne Renaud, a poet from the French city of Grenoble. The French Embassy in Prague and the French Institute are involved in the entire project.
Bohuslav Reynek (1892 to 1971) was a Czech poet, graphic artist and translator. Petrkov in the Havlíčkův Brod region was connected with his life and artistic work. In December 2020, the government decided to buy the chateau from Reynek’s grandchildren, and the final price climbed to 18 million crowns. The castle building includes another 92 thousand square meters of land, on which there are gardens, forest, fields and two ponds. The state took precedence over more than twenty other people interested in buying, the Vysočina region did not show interest.
