In the spring, VAK “Latvija” addressed the new composers, ordering new works without specific writing conditions and giving complete freedom to the creative flight. On October 13, in the Great Hall of JVLMA, there will be an opportunity to hear eleven students of the Academy of Music – Kirill Ryabtsev, Andrieva Alkšnis, Olesya Kozlovska, Gaita Jānis Pujāts, Edgars Mākens, Marina Vidmonte, Marita Semjonova, Lauma Kazaka, Alise Rancāne, Kārlis result.
“The Department of Composition is happy about this support for future composers. The performance of their composition and the interpretation of such an excellent team is the best school a student can get. However, many students have found creative strength and will now receive this performance as a prize, “says Selga Mence, Head of the Composition Department at JVLMA.
Founded in 1942, the State Academic Choir “Latvija” is a universal ensemble, which constantly adds to its repertoire with innovative compositions in various genres, starting with cinema music recordings and ending with vocal-instrumental world premieres. The choir is a seven-time winner of the Latvian Grand Music Prize, as well as a recipient of other important awards.
JVLMA’s cooperation with VAK “Latvija” has started a long time ago, but it became gratifyingly closer last season, when the ensemble participated in the 6th international Jāzeps Vītols choir conductors ‘competition final and the new choir conductors’ diploma examinations 2019/2020. at the end of the academic year
