The Port of Barcelona and Costa Cruises collaborate
BARCELONA, 13 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The startups Toroi Marine and Meditmin have won the first edition of the BlueUp program, promoted by Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, in collaboration with the Port of Barcelona and Costa Cruises.
The initiative stems from the council’s strategic line of promoting blue economy business initiatives, capable of creating jobs and boosting maritime activity in Barcelona, the entities reported in a joint statement this Friday.
Toroi Marine designs and builds an electric propulsion system for the automated mooring of small leisure boats, and has received the prize for the most innovative startup, endowed with 10,000 euros and granted by the Port of Barcelona.
Meditmin markets a marine organic fertilization solution to remineralize and revive plants from domestic units to urban orchards and large-scale agriculture, and has been awarded the prize for the most sustainable startup, also endowed with 10,000 euros and awarded by Costa Cruises.
The two winners are part of the 11 startups that were selected in October and that, since then, have received training sessions from Barcelona Activa in collaboration with the other program partners: UPC, Clúster Nàutic and Seastainable Ventures.
