Bangalore: After the initial defeat against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kerala’s score improved. After losing the toss and opting to bat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Kerala scored 277 for eight in the allotted overs. Valsal Govind (95), Sachin Baby (54) and Mohammad Azharuddin (59 not out) were the top scorers for Kerala. Abhimanyu Mithun took five wickets for Karnataka.
Kerala got off to a bad start. With just four runs on the scoreboard, Kerala lost top-order batsmen Robin Uthappa (0) and Sanju Samson (3). Recovered from this collapse. Vishnu Vinod (29) – Through the Valsal alliance. Both added 56 runs. Vishnu was bowled by Shreyas Gopal. Later, the performance of the middle class players shook Kerala.

Jalaj Saxena (5), MD Nitish (0) and S Mithun (13) returned quickly. But Azharuddin’s fast innings helped Kerala. He faced 38 balls and scored 59 runs. Azuruddin’s innings consisted of three sixes and two fours. Apart from Mithun, Prasidh Krishna took two wickets and Gopal one for Karnataka.
