The start of the school year is already preparing in Seine-Saint-Denis

The school year ended this Friday evening, but the parents of pupils and teachers’ unions of Seine-Saint-Denis mobilized until the last days to demand more resources from the National Education for the school year 2020/21.

In a press release published on Tuesday, the Sud Education 93 union also called for the establishment of a “new emergency plan for education” in the department.

Last week, a group of parents occupied Jean-Jaurès kindergarten in Bagnolet to protest against the closing of a class. In vain. “We have had no satisfactory response from the academic management. We have therefore decided to file an appeal with the ministry, ”says a mother who fears“ overloaded ”staff in September.

“The academic management has decided to close because there are ten fewer students. However, with the Covid-19, we know that some families have not yet registered. There were two new registrations on Thursday. Our school also has 14 children with disabilities. What support will they have in these conditions? She wonders.

352 class openings, 243 closings

This school in Bagnolet is not the only one to lose a class. Even if the number of closures remains lower than that of openings throughout the department. The academic direction thus announces 352 openings for 243 closings. That is to say a balance of 109 class openings while the 93 should have 461 more children in the 1st degree at the start of the school year.

These openings and closings were the subject of two special departmental technical committees (CTSD), the second of which took place on Thursday.

“The academic direction heard some of our demands on stuck situations. Even if of course, we would have liked no class to close, ”underlines Caroline Marchand, departmental co-secretary of the SNUipp-FSU 93 teachers’ union.

The extended CP and CE1 reform

The reform of CP and CE1 to 12 students in Priority Education Network and REP +, which had only been extended to 80% of CE1s in REP last September, will be effective throughout the department at the start of the school year. 79 positions will be created to extend this measure.
