Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region Ho Iat Seng, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region Zheng Xincong, and Director of the China National Space Administration Zhang Kejian attended the event and witnessed the signing of the “Macau Science-1” satellite commissioning certificate and long-term operation and management agreement. Li Guoping, chief engineer of the China National Space Administration, and Dai Jianye, director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, attended the event and delivered speeches. Leaders attending the meeting jointly opened the popular science exhibition “Chasing Dreams in the Sky and Exploring the Deep Sea – China’s Aerospace and Navigation Technology in Macao”, unveiled the first display of lunar soil in Macao, and launched the second Macao Aerospace Development Forum.
Li Guoping said that holding a series of science and technology events in Macao and displaying the lunar samples recovered by Chang’e-5 are practical measures to support Macao’s better integration into the overall development of the country and its determined exploration and in-depth cooperation. The “Macau Science-1” satellite jointly developed by the Mainland and Macao is Macao’s first science and technology experimental satellite, and also the world’s first scientific detection satellite to monitor the geomagnetic field and space environment in the South Atlantic abnormal area. It will enhance Macao’s scientific and technological innovation level. At the same time, it will assist the transformation of Macao’s economic and social development model, open up a new model of scientific and technological cooperation between the mainland and Macao, and establish a new paradigm for scientific and technological development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Relevant national departments will share the achievements of aerospace and navigation science and technology progress with the people of Macao, and look forward to more Macao scientific and technological talents participating in it. Dai Jianye said that this “Stars and Moon Glowing over the Sea and Sky – Science and Technology Macao Series” is a reflection of the close cooperation between Macao and the Mainland in aerospace scientific research, exchanges and science popularization.
