Red Bull leader Max Verstapen showed the fastest lap time even before qualifying for the Bahrain GP, while both Alfa Romeo drivers were surprised.
Most pilots made 2 or even three attempts to demonstrate a flying skill circle with the softest tires. This time, the Mercedes duo did not look as uncompetitive as in the previous two training sessions of the Bahrain GP – George Russell was the session leader and finished in 4th place, but Lewis Hamilton was in 6th place.
The second lap time was shown by Charles Clare, who himself admitted that he made a mistake in the last sector and could have been faster, while his teammate Carlos Saints showed the fifth lap time. Serhio Peress was not as far away from his teammate Verstapen in this training session as before and lost only 0.247s in the 3rd place.
Surprised by Alfa Romeo’s pilots – Valter Botass showed lap time of 8th, but the only debutant of the season, Guanzhou Zhou, remained in 9th place, while Kevin Magnusen finished in front of them with a 7th result.
