We’ll start with the Yankees, a team that has been plagued by injuries since early spring. New York will be without two of its starting pitchers (Carlos Rodon and Frankie Montas) at the start of the season, which will change the makeup of the early-season rotation, as well as a few key relievers. The list of Yankees who will miss Opening Day has grown and now includes outfielder Harrison Bader.

Bader, acquired in a trade last season from the Cardinals, injured his left oblique during a spring training game on Wednesday. With the injury, Bader is expected to be unavailable to start in midfield for at least the first three weeks of the regular season.
Basically, the target date is April 20.

Without Bader in center field, the Yankees could start Aaron Judge when they host the San Francisco Giants on Opening Day, March 30. It could be a temporary fix for a Yankees outfield that presents many question marks as spring training continues.
Bader appeared in just 14 regular-season games for the Yankees last season after recovering from plantar fasciitis, but he made his presence felt in the postseason, scoring .400/.471/ .800 in 17 plate appearances to be one of the Yankees’ few signs of life in an ALCS sweep at the hands of the Houston Astros.
