St. Louis Blues hockey players on Friday called the National Hockey League (NHL) The powers of the Stanley Cup champions.
The Blues lost to the Vancouver Canucks 2: 6 (0: 1, 0: 3, 2: 2) in the sixth game of the Western Conference quarterfinals in Edmonton, conceding 2-4 in a series of four victories.
In the fourth minute of the first period, Jay Beagle was nominated by the Canucks, but in the first nine minutes of the second third, the opponents were beaten by Antoine Russell, Troy Stecher and Brock Boucer. Jordan Binington was later replaced by Jake Ellen at the Blues Gate, but he was not the savior either.
In the third section, Jiden Schwartz and Tyler Mots scored two goals in each team, so the fight ended with a 6: 2 favor for the Canucks.
Brents Saters scored the winners with three assists, but Elias Pesson assisted twice. Goalkeeper Jacob Markström fought off 34 “Blues” hockey puck.
In the next round, the Canucks will compete with the Golden Knights of Vegas. The second semi-final of the Western Conference will be a duel between the Avalanche of Colorado and the Stars of Dallas.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Flyers reached the semifinals in the East, beating the Montreal Canadiens 3: 2 (2: 1, 1: 1, 0: 0), taking the lead 4-2.
Ivan Provorov, Kevin Hayes and Michael Raphle scored on the Flyers team, while Nick Suzuki stood out twice in the Canadiens. For the winners, goalkeeper Carter Hart neutralized 31 shots.
“Flyers” has not played in the Stanley Cup final since 2010, when the team was represented by Latvian defender Oskars Bārtulis.
The opponent of the Philadelphia team in the semifinals of the conference will be the “Islanders” of New York. Tampa’s Lightning and Boston’s Bruins will compete for the second ticket to the Eastern finals.
Of the eight teams remaining in the Stanley Cup, only “Bruins” won the trophy in the last 14 years and won in 2011. Of these eight, four teams have won the title in the last 35 years – twice “Avalanche”, but sometimes “Bruins”, “Lightning” and “Stars”.
Toronto and Edmonton first hosted a 24-team elimination tournament, with the Stanley Cup continuing with 16 units. First, the teams played the series up to three wins in the play-off qualifying round, but then switched to the traditional series format with up to four wins.
