The SSM transfers more than 200 women for free mammograms in Morelia

Morelia, Michoacán, December 6 to 2020.- In order to protect the health of women with the detection and timely treatment of breast cancer, the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM), through the Sanitary Jurisdiction number 1 of Morelia, has provided support to 237 patients to undergo their mammography for free, transferring them to the Unit of Medical Specialties dedicated to Breast Cancer (UNEME DEDICAM).

From October 26 to date, women from the municipalities of Santa Ana Maya, Huaniqueo, Maravatío and Morelia localities have been transferred with the support of the SSM vehicles for their care.

The foregoing, derived from the fact that detection through mammography is considered the most effective intervention for the early location of breast cancer, with an impact on reducing mortality.

In order to detect this disease in time, three basic actions are necessary: self-examination, from 20 years of age; clinical examination, from 25 to 39 years of age, and mammography, from 40 to 69 years of age, emphasizing those women who have risk factors.

Improving the health of Michoacan women and reducing death rates from breast cancer is a priority of the Government of Silvano Aureoles Conejo, which is why the SSM invites Michoacan women to go to the doctor for their detection, diagnosis and timely treatment.
