The May-June matriculation examination period of the 2022/2023 academic year begins today with the written exams for the national language and literature subjects. More than 111,100 people are expected to graduate in 1,163 locations in the coming weeks.
The exams are organized by secondary schools and government offices between May 5 and June 30, and 3,171 matriculation examination boards are involved in conducting them.
According to the Education Office (OH), the national language and literature exams will be held first, on Friday. Hungarian language and literature follows on Monday: 72,569 students at the intermediate level and 1,771 students at the advanced level report their knowledge of this subject. On Tuesday, 70,394 students will graduate in mathematics at the intermediate level and 4,537 at the advanced level. On Wednesday, 68,131 students at the intermediate level and 7,025 students at the advanced level take the exam in history. After that, the foreign language exams follow: on Thursday, 45,864 in English at the intermediate level, 18,848 at the advanced level; on Friday, 11,537 students will graduate in German at the intermediate level and 2,077 at the advanced level.
The written exams will end on May 26, the advanced level oral exams will take place between June 7 and 14, and then the exam period will end with the intermediate level oral exams, between June 19 and 30.

In the spring exam season, a total of more than 74,000 high school graduates will graduate.
The majority will be from regular matriculation exams: graduating students will take 342,785 such exams. Those who already have a high school diploma applied for almost 8,700 repeat or supplementary exams. The number of advanced exams is 27,121, level-raising exams are 13,282, and supplementary and remedial exams are a total of 2,978.
