– The spread of infection in Sweden is at a historically high level

Recently, the number of cases of infection has increased sharply in Sweden. On Wednesday last week, Sweden reached a new peak of infection with 23,877 new registered cases of infection in one day. It is a record so far in the pandemic, writes Aftonbladet.

– We see that the load on the hospitals is increasing, said Sweden’s Minister of Social Affairs, Lena Hallengren at a press conference on Monday.

There is a sharp increase among the unvaccinated, who are admitted to intensive care units in Sweden. At Monday’s press conference, Hallengren encouraged residents to take the vaccine.

– Vaccinate you as soon and as soon as possible, she said.

The sharp increase in infection is probably due to the new omicron variant. The Swedish Prime Minister, Magdalena Andersson, emphasized that there is no doubt that the situation has worsened.

– The spread of infection in Sweden is at a historically high level, Andersson said.

Introduces new measures

The Government of Sweden has thus introduced a number of new infection control measures. The new measures will apply from Wednesday 12 January.

Among the measures that are now being introduced is the requirement for a home office for those who have the opportunity to do so.

– It is about respect for everyone who can not do it and respect for everyone who has to use public transport. We must reduce the congestion, Andersson said on Monday.

These are the new measures in Sweden:

  • Anyone who can work from home should do so.
  • Restaurants with a serving permit must close no later than 23:00. A limit of a maximum of 8 people per company is introduced.
  • A general advice is introduced that adults should limit the number of close contacts indoors.
  • At public gatherings and public events, a maximum ceiling of 50 people is introduced, if you do not have a vaccine certificate.
  • It is not recommended to participate in various sports events indoors.

In addition, several measures are being extended.
