The number of poultry farms nationwide increased to 46… Jeonnam-do confirms one after another

Recently, the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been intensifying, especially in the Jeonnam region.

According to the Central Incident Response Headquarters on the 15th, a total of 46 cases of highly pathogenic AI have occurred in poultry farms across the country from October 19 this year to the present as of the confirmed date.

In particular, for two weeks from 1 to 14 of this month, 19 cases were confirmed, equal to 41.3% of the total.

There were nine cases in the same period last month, but this month the number has doubled.

Notably, confirmed cases continue in Jeonnam this month.

Of the 19 cases that occurred this month, 16 (84.2%) were on Jeonnam farms.

In addition, on the 13th and the day before, as confirmed cases were reported in poultry farms in Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province and Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province respectively, there are concerns that the spread may be serious outside of Jeollanam-do.

By stock species, 19 cases (41.3%) occurred in broiler duck flocks and 13 cases (28.3%) in laying hens.

In addition, 7 cases were confirmed in broiler farm, 3 cases in broiler farm, 2 cases in broiler farm and 1 case in quail farm.

A confirmed case has also been reported in a family that raised turkeys and geese.

The price of duck meat and eggs has risen as confirmed cases have emerged one after another on duck and laying hens farms.

According to livestock distribution information from the Livestock Quality Appraisal Institute, the wholesale price of duck meat (No. 20-26) increased by 10.8% to 5,064 won the previous day from 4,569 won a month ago (November 15) and the wholesale price of eggs for 10 special eggs, equal to 1,940 won, an increase of 6.9% compared to 1,814 won a month ago.
