On the verge of Peter Wright’s triumph at the Darts World Cup, Fallon Sherrock also had powerful reason to celebrate: After her historic appearance at the tournament, the “Queen of the Palace” will soon be the first woman to play in the Premier League.
The Englishwoman was nominated as a so-called contender for the second league evening on February 13 in Nottingham, as PDC boss Barry Hearn announced after the World Cup final in London.
At the World Cup, the 25-year-old was the first woman in tournament history to defeat a man and reach the third round.
In addition to Sherrock, only Scotsman John Henderson has been introduced as another contender.
In the Premier League 2020 there are again nine permanent participants, including world champion Wright and world championship finalist Michael van Gerwen, nine challengers complete the field on the respective match days.
