As one of the most popular memes on social networks would say: “the future is today, do you hear old man?” The U2 group performed at one of the most futuristic concert venues in the United States: The Sphere.
U2 is a band originally from the United Kingdom that started in the 1970s and is recognized for singles such as ‘With or Without You’, ‘Beautiful Day’, ‘One’, among others. On the night of September 29, the group inaugurated The Sphere.
It is a venue located in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States, which is characterized by being a huge screen in the shape of a sphere.
What is The Sphere?
According to Variety, in 2018, entrepreneur Jim Dolan revealed The Sphere project at a press conference in Los Angeles, Florida.
“It is time to build a venue for our time, a venue in which technology, culture and society converge to create experiences never imagined, much less seen,” explained an introductory video that was shown at that press conference.
Five years later, in early July, The Sphere first caught fire with an image of an eye saying “hello world.” Since then, the enormous sphere-shaped screen has projected different types of visuals.
“Sphere, a next-generation entertainment medium that is redefining the future of live entertainment. It uses cutting-edge technologies that ignite the senses and transport the public to real and imaginary places,” describes the venue’s official site.
Despite this, it was not until September 29 that the interior of the sphere was inaugurated with a U2 concert full of visuals and the arrival of their new album called Atomic City.
How much do tickets to The Sphere cost?
The U2 group will be giving some presentations until December 16 of this year, tickets can be obtained through The Sphere site; however, availability may be limited.
Prices to see U2 at The Sphere range from $400 to $1,495 (6,960 to 26,000 Mexican pesos), these costs vary depending on the day and the seat.
Apart from the concerts, the venue launches an experience in October called The Sphere Experience whose tickets range from 49 to 129 dollars (852 to 2,244 Mexican pesos).
