The world of entertainment, especially that focused on music and large events, saw the arrival of what could be the revolution of the industry. The Sphere, or the sphere in Spanish, is a new spherical stadium, located near Las Vegas, Nevada, which had its inauguration on September 29. The site, covered inside and out in LED lights, presents a very different visual experience than usual.

The Irish rock band U2 premiered the sphere with their concert “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere”. “It will host a wide variety of events, including concerts and residencies from the world’s biggest artists; Sphere Experiences with top Hollywood creatives; and top-notch marquee events. The Company has also announced plans to build another sphere in London, pending the necessary approvals,” the site’s website reads.

In addition to the concerts, The Sphere will also have the immersive “Postcard from Earth” experience on their dates. The experience was carried out by American filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, known for directing “The Whale,” “Mother!” and “Requiem for a dream.” Graham Booth, a nature documentary producer, also participated in the show.

“I see the sphere as a great opportunity to take people away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip in all its man-made madness and immerse them as fully as possible in the wonder, awe and beauty of the natural world. ‘Postcard from Earth’ is a sci-fi journey deep into our future as our descendants reflect on our shared home,” says Oscar nominee Darren Aronofsky.
