The Navy coordinates the realization of a cybersecurity exercise in the maritime field, within the framework of the exercise MARSEC-21.
The main objective of this scenario is raise awareness of the need to improve in all aspects of cybersecurity, as well as improving incident response procedures and developing protection mechanisms. The exercise includes coordination, collaboration and cooperation with other Public Administrations with responsibilities in the field of Maritime Security, as well as between the public and private sectors, in line with the comprehensive approach to maritime security established in the “Maritime Security Strategy National”.
The stage will take place between the days May 4 and 7, although some of the actions included in the exercise have been carried out previously.
In this phase, the exercise consists of a seminar, which will be transmitted via the web, with speakers from the main national agencies – and some international ones – in the maritime field, and demonstrations of actions on the main sensors used by ships at sea. .
The exercise counts for your organization with the support from ISEN of Cartagena, that it has made its facilities and computer resources available for its development in web format.
MARSEC exercises are ones annual exercises of the Navy, whose objective is to improve coordination between the different competent authorities in the maritime sector. They are made up of different scenarios, with varied assumptions ranging from marine pollution to the control of maritime traffic, passed through all areas – fishing, immigration, drug trafficking, which take place in different ports and areas of the Spanish coastline.
