Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya stressed yesterday Wednesday that the Spanish sovereignty of Sebta and Melilla “is not in danger and will not be”. She firmly insisted that the two enclaves will continue to constitute the EU’s external border in the face of Morocco’s annexation demands.
Gonzalez Laya also insisted on guaranteeing the belonging to Spain of Sebta and Melilla during the control session in Parliament to the question posed by the MP for Vox, Teresa Lopez on the risk that Morocco insists in her speech that these are “occupied Moroccan cities”.

Indeed, and following the various ups and downs experienced by this diplomatic crisis, Sebta and Melilla’s claim to Moroccanness is growing more and more. In response to these demands, the Minister therefore assures the will to lead a reflection on a firmer anchoring of Sebta and Mellila within the European Union.
