Spain comes up with one registration law: Tourists must share their bank account, phone number, email address and information about their current residence with their accommodation or car rental company.
The new order raises many questions for hotel operators or car rental companies. It has been in force since January 2023, but the Spanish government had decided not to punish anyone. There was an ‘adjustment period’ which was extended to 1 October.
At the end of September the tourism department started to worry again, but even then the The Spanish government decides to extend the change period until December 2 for technical reasons.
Delay is not an option, as it turns out. The order will come into effect on December 2. However, the tourism sector should not worry too much about them. The Spanish government has announced that hotel operators and car rental companies should not collect additional data from their passengers. No more than your name and passport number will be asked.
