The Spanish football league association LFP has reassigned the naming rights to the first and second divisions.
From the coming season, the top division La Liga will bear the name of the American video game manufacturer EA Sports. The second league is named after its game technology Hypermotion.
According to Spanish media reports, the Spanish league will collect around 150 million euros for the sale over the next five years.
The Spanish bank Santander had held the rights since 2016 and paid around 20 million euros a year for them. The new contract brings the Spanish clubs around the financially under pressure FC Barcelona now a total of around 10 million euros more a year.
With the reassignment of the naming rights, the two leagues will not only be renamed, the logos will also be adapted accordingly. However, it is still unclear what exactly these will look like in the future.
