The Spanish championship for regional cadet teams (under-16) starts in the province of Albacete, in an appointment in which Galicia starts with the initial ranking number 3 of the 17 participating regional teams.
Each regional team is made up of 3 men and 3 women, in the case of Galicia the important presence of Ourense stands out with Xulio del Prado and Alba Pérez Salado, (both teammates at Club Xadrez Ourense), the rest of the team is made up of Cacheiro (University of Santiago de Compostela), the Cereijo brothers (Xadrez Compostela) and Paula Suárez (Vilagarcía).
But the Ourense representation does not end at the front of the board, but the international coach Yudania Hernández, also from Xadrez Ourense, travels with the coaching staff, completing the Orensa representation.
