Handball players from France, Croatia, Sweden and Montenegro secured participation in the main stages of the European Championships in Slovakia and Hungary on Monday.

Defenders of the Spanish title go further from the Bratislava E-group with a full number of six points, when at the end of the second half they turned the score in a duel with the last Bosnia and Herzegovina and won 28:24. Even before the meeting, they were sure of the process.

Montenegro won in the decisive duo for advancement from the A-group in Debrecen after the drama over Slovenia 33:32, although it lost most of the match. The Slovenians finish as the fourth team from the previous championship. The Danes, who closed the group with a clear triumph over North Macedonia at 31:21 and have not lost a point yet, won the advance from this group.

The final day of the C-group in Szeged decided the progress of France and Croatia. The Olympic winners of the French dealt with Serbia 29:25, when in the first half they led by a leading nine goals and scored the full number of six points in three duels. From the second place, the Croats secured the continuation of the tournament with four points after a smooth victory over Ukraine 38:25.

Before Tuesday’s final day in two basic groups, a total of 10 teams have a promotion in the pocket – Denmark, Montenegro, France, Croatia, Poland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Russia and Norway.

There are two more places in the game that all four teams (Iceland, the Netherlands, Hungary and Portugal) can reach in the B-group in Budapest.. In the D-group in Bratislava, it is already decided whether Poland and the coronavirus infection affected by the German national team will continue.
